Finally I began to be more confident on the bike: the weight of the 250 four stroke was not a problem anymore, technique was honing and especially I was enjoying every ride. The engine brake wasn’t an uncomfortable catch anymore, but a strong ally to make the corner entry smoother. Brakes were working at top of their performances, maybe too much: more than a clamp with the front brake made me find with my head on the ground.
The friendly hayride through the track was no longer enough, it was time to take first (pitiful) time laps with the chronometer.
After I’ve done the main jump at Paese mx track at least 50 times I said to myself: “now I’m going to take off both hands from the handlebar while I’m in air-time”.
Meanwhile my father was setting up the epigraph on the tombstone: “brave and dork”.
First lap warming up, I’ve never squeezed so much my legs around the bike on the ramp: 1,2,3 and I left both hands from handlebar.
Holy cow, so cool! I had to do it again!
1,2,3 and the bike sticked in the air. I moved my ass all the way back to avoid doing an involuntary front-flip, I clung to the handlebars but forks have been rather naughty. After I’ve been waving on the seat like being on a crazy bull bike threw me off.
Do you believe me if I tell you that I didn’t notice anything? Everything must have last not more than 3 seconds. I didn’t even have time to think what to do and I found myself on the ground.
In these moments I thank my full body-armour, thanks to it I managed the fall just with some abrasions on my shoulders.
I get up the bike from the ground, I gave to my father a nod and I noticed that the handlebar looks bent. When I got back to the paddock I hurried and stormed to settle the risers to straight the handlebar: I had to do another lap, to avoid being scared by the bad experience of the jump (my favorite by the way!)
Next laps were regular and without any complication, useless to say that I didn’t feel comfortable taking off my hands again. What went wrong second time?
One word, thousands of blasphemies: engine brake. Lucky that I said before that it became a strong ally. “First time I tried to achieve the trick engine brake didn’t have any effect on the jump. Second time however, I took the ramp in second gear. This was the big mistake I made, reasonably bike during air-time was braking because of the engine brake and so it sticked. Everything was my fault.
Must have been the blow to the head I got but the look of the bike didn’t make me happy anymore, I wanted something different. For pity’s sake, it was really beautiful but it didn’t make any distinction from the others. Let’s start from the premise that I didn’t want to spend more than 200 dollars for a pair of graphic kit! By the way, fluo decals kit were also more expensive than regular ones. I had to find a solution: after I’ve been squeezing during two days those two and half neurons left, I achieved to manage something.
- Plastic shrouds yellow –fluo
- Front fender and number plate yellow fluo
- Case back exhaust carbon fiber (new exhaust was too expensive)
- Upper clamp black
- Tank cover in carbon fiber by CMT
- Racetech bumper
- Red conta ore
- Black clutch cover
Bike was stunning and aggressive. Sound was aggressive. My lap times a bit, less but details…
Everything looked to be smooth and carefree. However there’s a reason if 250cc 4 strokes dirtbikes devalue much faster than two strokes: maintenance price.
Sooner or later everyone has to change piston and rod: the engine block made a jingle, a strange noise. Here shit got real.
4 strokes engines are called this way because the stages of the piston and rod inside the cylinder are 4: this means that engines are made of more components than two stroke engines (es. Drain valve).
After leaving the bike to the mechanic probably he must have been going on holiday spending all the money I gave him to fix the dirtbike and replacing piston, rod and valves regulation.
In that moment I began to wake up the other sleepy neuron: I can’t afford to spend a heritage every year to make the engine brand new.
The amount of money wasn’t worth all the track days that I could be able to do because of bad weather, commitments and exams.
After I’ve sold her great sadness in my heart, it was time to begin a new project; Honda Cr 125 2007 motard.

- Convogliatori giallo fluo
- Tabella portanumero giallo fluo
- Para serbatoio in carbonio by CMT compositi
- Paracolpi racetech
- Conta ore rosso
- Copri carter frizione nero
Tutto sembrava filare liscio e in modo spensierato.
